Integers for Monkeys is a teacher-designed app for practicing integer addition and subtraction -- vital skills for all pre-algebra and algebra students. A floating balloon is blown up and down a vertical number line by a pair of comical monkeys as the player solves each problem. But beware the bee! If youre too slow (or get an answer wrong) your balloon gets popped!
The first integer in each problem represents the balloons starting position. The player is then prompted to give the balloons new position following an addition or subtraction. If the player is just learning, the levels start with enough time to count up and down the number line to find the new position. (There is also an option to practice in an untimed round without the bee.) Players can reach 3 out of 5 stars on most levels while still counting the majority of problems.
There are 7 challenging levels. From single digits and single signs, to subtracting negatives using multiples of 5, the problems types are designed to increase number sense and push players toward fluency. Particular skills each begin with their own level, and players have the opportunity to practice each new skill in isolation before mixing them all together in a final challenge round!
